Training for IP experts of the Baltic states universities in Vilnius: IP marketing and commercialization

On 6 June, a three-day training for intellectual property experts of Baltic states universities "IP Marketing and Commercialization" organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with the State Patent Bureau was opened in Vilnius. More than 30 participants from universities of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will take part in the training. This is the third training session for the participants of the Baltic States Pilot Project for the Development of a Regional Pool of IP commercialization.

"Universities play a more important role cooperating with innovative business or even more universities itself becomes a hub for innovations and access points for purposeful research and IP development. It requires fast reaction in management of IPR, and from a legal point of view: both global solutions for protection of IPR and enforcement of IP rights in case of infringement", - said Deputy director Žilvinas Danys at the training opening ceremony.

The object of the pilot project is to create a capacity building program for regional selected professionals in order to enable them to develop necessary skills and competences in the area of knowledge transfer and IP commercialization. As a result, a regional pool of IP commercialization experts and a cooperation network between Baltic universities will be established.
