This year, European Innovation Scoreboard recorded the largest leap of Lithuania in 2010–2016 compared to other EU Member States: the innovation system in the country has improved by 21 percent. This allowed Lithuania to secure its position as No. 16 among other EU Member States.
Among the strengths of the Lithuanian innovation system are innovation-friendly environment, human resources and linkages. The weak spots are sales impact, attractive research system and intellectual asset.
Compared to 2010, indicators of PCT applications (7.9%), trademark applications (36%) and design applications (17.9%) improved.
The Innovation Scoreboard lists countries assessed according to 27 indicators. This year, Innovation Scoreboard recorded innovation system growth in as many as 15 countries. Sweden remains the leader of innovation in the European Union.
